¿Quiénes pueden participar?

Profesores y estudiantes de cualquier titulación impartida en la Universidad de Granada, con preferencia de los grados de Medicina, Enfermería y Antropología. Profesionales de la salud y ciudadanos interesados en la temática de la conferencia.

La temática

You will learn how patients and the public can be involved in research from identifying research topics that matter to patients to different phases of the research lifecycle including the dissemination of important findings to community groups and policy makers. You will hear inspiring real-life examples related to perinatal health and look at the impact of patient and the public involvement for patients and researchers to get an understanding of why it is valuable to do it. You will learn practical tips and will give you the skills and knowledge needed to get started with public involvement in research!

Aprenderemos cómo los pacientes y el público pueden participar en la investigación, desde la identificación de temas de investigación que son importantes para los pacientes hasta las diferentes fases de la investigación, incluida la difusión de hallazgos importantes. Escucharemos ejemplos inspiradores relacionados con la salud perinatal y observaremos el impacto de este tipo de participación para ambos, pacientes e investigadores ayudando a comprender por qué es valioso hacerlo. Compartiremos consejos prácticos y aprenderemos habilidades y el conocimiento necesario para comenzar con la participación pública en la investigación.

Nuestra invitada Ngawai Moss

Ngawai is a Patient and Public Involvement Leader and advisor with the National Institute for Health Research. She has assessed over 60m. euros worth of research funding in the last 3 years to ensure it is meaningful for patients. She also advises Health Education England on aspects of their curriculum to ensure they are designed with patients in mind. Ngawai has an interest in perinatal health, she is the Chair of the Clinical Reference Group for the National Maternity & Perinatal Audit, she recently won a National Award for this work from the UK’s Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership.

Ngawai also founded a women’s health charity harnessing education and patient centred research to improve care for women during pregnancy and childbirth in low- and middle-income countries. Ngawai is also an Honorary Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London and a co-investigator in 2 high value perinatal health research programmes.
